Volunteering
Volunteers
are an important part of life at the Clarion Nursing Home. We appreciate
and value the contribution that they make in the lives of our Residents. We are
members of the Ontario Volunteer Association and our Volunteers are recognized
on a regular basis with Recognition and Reward Programs as well as during National
Volunteer Week.
Volunteer
are all specially trained to provide a number of services.
Meal Assistants:
Assisting the care staff by feeding a Resident and providing a friendly, warm
atmosphere for him/her to enjoy their meal or to help with the Restorative Feeding
program, where Residents can maintain their independence through the use of specialized
utensils, under gentle supervision with lots of encouragement.
Escort: Accompanying
Residents to various appointments, via Taxis and Darts to ensure their safety
and security. |
Church Services:
Porter Residents to and from service and assist them during church, as well as
visiting with them afterward.
Mealtime Program: Adding enjoyment to mealtime
for the Resident by having a cup of tea and socializing.
Reading Time: Giving
that little extra to Residents by reading a book or letters and cards that they
have received. |
Friendly Visiting: One
on one time visiting with Residents in their room or in a common area. This provides
comfort, companionship and social stimulation for the Residents.
Portering: A very important
task, seeing that Residents get to and from the barber, hairdresser, and special
activities.
Crafts: Offering your
creative talents to provide craft articles for fundraising projects or to assist
Residents with their own craft project. |
Woodworking: Well equipped
wood shop for the carpenter to continue his craft.
Bingo Assistant:
Enable residents to enjoy a game of bingo, assisted by monitoring cards for
those who may not be able to play on their own. Volunteers
are always welcome to join us. Come alone or with a friend. Our volunteers are
adults as well as teens, however if you are under the age of 16 special permission
is required. It is rewarding to know that you have touched the lives of others
and that their life is better because of the time you have given. |
